Thank you for your interest in covering the National Governors Association (NGA) Summer Meeting, July 19-21, at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. Please read below about the various ways media can cover the event.

About the Summer Meeting

The NGA Summer Meeting is one of two primary gatherings of the nation’s governors that serve as the business meetings of the association. The program typically includes a variety of sessions open to the media. Governors-only sessions are closed to the media and other meeting attendees.

The NGA Office of Communications is at reporters’ and editors’ service before and during the meeting. A media headquarters will be onsite to give reporters an area to work and file their stories. Wi-Fi is provided. In addition, NGA Office of Communications staff will be onsite and available to answer questions and facilitate interviews with governors.

Registration and Credentials

Media covering any portion of the NGA Summer Meeting should plan to obtain an official NGA 2018 meeting credential.

The deadline for advance online registration is Friday, July 13. Reporters and producers who miss advance registration should plan to register at the Community Gallery at Santa Fe Community Convention Center beginning at 2 p.m., but could experience delays in clearing security and obtaining their NGA credentials. All media must pick up their individual credentials in person at the NGA Meeting Registration Center.

NOTE: Two forms of identification will be required to pick up an NGA media credential. Proper identification must include a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and a current, valid press credential or business card.

Covering NGA Business Sessions

At sessions open to the media, we ask that reporters sit anywhere not explicitly marked “reserved.” Please refrain from sitting on camera risers. We ask that cameras give a respectful distance to the governors during their business sessions; in other words, no closer than two rows of chairs behind the governors’ seating area. Only official NGA event photographers are permitted additional access during business sessions.

The NGA Office of Communications reserves the right to revoke a credential from any member of the media who does not follow these guidelines for covering the meeting sessions or who acts in an inappropriate manner at any time during the meeting or associated events.

Media Headquarters

Media Headquarters will be equipped with limited phones and Internet connections. Hours of operation during the meeting are:
